The 121 year old Rudyard Kipling short story collection about an orphaned tribal Indian boy raised by a pack of wolves might have been written by the ex-pat British colonial in Vermont, but its soul remains in the real jungles of Madhya Pradesh, on which Kipling based his Mowgli stories.

The writer, Rudyard Kipling, wrote this story in British India. So he lifted the names directly from Hindi. Because it's the story of a boy who is raised by the wolf in the indian jungle, that's why you will find those hindi name.

His father's accounts of Indian animals must have inspired Kipling to develop them as the Jungle Book stories. Apart from the Mowgli ones, these include the mongoose tale of 'Rikki-Tikki-Tav i ' , 'Toomai of the Elephants' and several others.

I love it! In fact most children in India love it and everyone knows it's story. It used to come on TV in hindi, and we also have a famous song on it which each and every Indian knows - 'jungal jungal baat chali hai pata chala hai..' It plays in every hindii version of jungal book. I love its English version of 1967!
